Hi Supermoms,
Irani Samosa/Onion Samosa lovers raise your hands 🙌🏻
So many of you have messaged me on instagram about the amazing places you have experienced this ‘crunchy on the outside and soft juicy and spicy onion filling inside’ samosa. Many of you have had it in Hyderabad. I too have enjoyed it there in a small Irani cafe along with Irani chai ☕️.The combo is irresistible 👌🏻.
Do you know that, it is quite easy to make at home. All you need to do is to buy the samosa/spring roll sheets from the cold storage section of a super market near you. Rest is very easy. The onion filling can be made in minutes! Hardly takes 10 minutes to do all the preparations.
End result is worth it. They not only look gorgeous, but amazingly tasty! It is a must try snack. Sure to brighten your mood even on a gloomy day. Agree?
Irani Samosa | Onion Samosa | Cocktail Samosa Recipe by Masterchefmom
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
For 12 samosas, you will need
Ingredients:
For the filling:
3 medium onions ( thinly sliced)
Handful of coriander leaves ( add according to taste)
1 green chilli( finely chopped)
1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1/4 tsp cumin/jeera powder
1/2 tsp dhania/coriander powder
1/4 tsp anardana( optional)
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
1-1.5 tsp rava/sooji
Salt to taste
Other Ingredients:
12 samosa/spring roll sheets
oil to fry
To seal the samosa, I used 1 tsp atta/wheat flour mixed with water to a paste consistency. You can also use maida/flour to make the paste for binding. Please do watch my Irani Samosa Recipe video to check out the way I have shaped the samosas.
Method:
1. To a bowl, add all the ingredients given under ' for the filling', mix well.
2. Make the atta paste.
3. Remove each samosa sheet, fold and spoon the filling.
4. Close and seal using the flour paste. Do refer to the video for shaping the samosa.
5. Once all the samosas are ready, heat oil in a kadai or pan and once the oil has reached the right temperature, fry all samosas in batches. Fry them till they are uniformly golden brown on all sides.
Your delicious Irani Samosa is now ready to be served!
Happy Cooking!
With love,
